Top business schools

There are over 100 business schools in the US this year, including some that are ranked among the top 10 worldwide. In particular, Harvard University earns a top score for employer reputation. The school has a strong alumni network, and its business school graduates are estimated to earn a median base salary of US$150,000. 

There are over 20 Canadian business schools in this year’s rankings with two performing particularly well: University of Toronto and University of British Columbia. Both schools earn high scores in the H-index citations indicator, suggesting the productivity and impact of the faculty. 

Europe is the best represented region in the business school rankings. INSEAD continues to be one of the top business schools in Europe: one of France’s institutions featured this year. An international business school, INSEAD has campuses in France, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and San Francisco. It earned a top score in academic reputation this year with the course placing a huge focus on diversity. 

London Business School is once again one of the UK’s best institutions. It is one of over 60 UK business schools in the rankings this year. Other notable business schools in the UK rankings this year are The London School of Economics, The University of Warwick, Imperial College London, and The University of Manchester. 

In Spain, the rankings have stayed consistent with previous years, with Universitat Ramon Llull performing well again. Other top universities are University of Navarra, IE University and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. 

Copenhagen Business School is one of Denmark’s universities featured this year. The Netherlands Erasmus University Rotterdam (18th) ranks well among the Dutch universities.

Other notable European universities are Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen and Austria’s WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. 

There are close to 150 Asian business schools in the rankings this year. 

National University of Singapore earns a high score for H-index citations this year. It has advocated for the value of transparency, making its student feedback forms open to the entire community in order to continuously improve their teaching standards. 

Two other top Singaporean schools are Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University. 

Mainland China is a leading study destination in Asia for business schools, with nearly 20 institutions in the rankings. Three of these stand out: Tsinghua University, Peking University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.  

Hong Kong SAR also has a significant presence in the global top 50. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's business courses cover a wide range of topics, from Chinese business to Asian financial markets to entrepreneurship. 

Three schools in South Korea stand out in this year's rankings: Seoul National University, Korea University and Yonsei University. 

India also contributes significantly to the business subject rankings with the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad performing well.

Middle Eastern schools feature in the business school rankings with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz University one of the region's best. This year, Lebanon and Turkey have done well. Lebanon’s American University of Beirut and Turkey’s Koç University and Bilkent University, are among the world's best business schools.

Another Middle Eastern country which also has a highly-ranked business school is Pakistan with the Lahore University of Management Sciences. 

In the United Arab Emirates, the American University of Sharjar is the most notable study destination for business students.

There are business schools from Australia and New Zealand in this year’s rankings. 

The University of Melbourne in Australia prepares graduates for a successful career in business, combining theoretical teaching with real life studies and even offering industry integration programmes. 

Other top Australian schools are The University of New South Wales, The University of Sydney, Monash University, The University of Queensland and Australian National University. 

New Zealand's The University of Auckland scores highly in the H-index citations indicator. It is home to 10 research and engagement centres, including the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.  

There are over 40 Latin American business schools featured in the rankings this year. 

Mexico’s Tecnológico de Monterrey earns a particularly high score for employer reputation.

Colombia is well-represented with Universidad de los Andes scoring highly in the citations per paper indicator. 

Brazil’s entries this year include Universidade de São Paulo which has quickly achieved a leading role in many different fields as a research centre and is responsible for around 20 percent of all Brazilian academic output, earning a high score for H-index citations. 

Three of the top business schools in Argentina this year are Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad Austral and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. Chile has many entrants in this year's rankings including Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

There are several African universities in the business school rankings, with Egypt and South Africa both represented.

The American University in Cairo's business course prepares students for a career in business, embedding real-world industry experience throughout the curriculum. 

South Africa’s University of Cape Town, is another notable performer from Africa this year.
